Your place on the register

Becoming a member is a fantastic achievement. However, once you are on the register, most chartered computer scientists stay there throughout their professional lives, and we want to support you manage your membership as you headway through your career.

However, if your subscription is not paid in full each year or your CPD requirement isn’t met, you will be removed from the register, as per the membership regulations. This means that you’d no longer have the right to use the ACCS letters with your name as per regulation.

How to re-establish your membership?

If your name is once removed from the register, you can apply to return to it. Please see below for information on what you will need to do to re-establish. In addition, you can download a re-establishment form from the ‘Related downloads’ from your ACCS account. To fast things along, please return your completed re-establishment form, along with any supporting documentation it asks for.

Payment for re-establishment can be made by calling your local ACCS office or making a transfer from your bank straight to ours.

If your name is removed from the register for non-payment of subscription fees, you would need to pay:

  • the current year’s full subscription,
  • a re-establishment fee,
  • any unpaid fee was pending at the time of removal.

Members must also fill and complete the (CPD) declaration section of the re-establishment form.

Members removed because of non-compliance with CPD obligations must complete the CPD declaration section of their re-establishment form. In addition, if you were removed for non-compliance with the CPD evidence review process, you would be required to submit the outstanding CPD evidence records along with the re-establishment form.

If you resigned from the register, you would need to pay:

  • the current year’s full subscription,
  • a re-establishment fee,
  • any unpaid fee was pending at the time of removal.

Members must also fill and complete the (CPD) declaration section of the re-establishment form.

If your name is removed from the register due to disciplinary reasons, you must wait at least 365 days from the effective date of the disciplinary order before applying for reinstatement.

If your name is removed due to bankruptcy or disciplinary you would need to pay:

  • the current year’s full subscription,
  • a re-establishment fee,
  • any unpaid fee was pending at the time of removal.

You may also be asked for additional information such as a conduct report prepared by an approved practitioner, character references, or maybe required to clear further tests or examinations. If so, you may also be required to additional fees to pay again. Again, we will reach you by phone or e-mail to confirm the exact requirements once you have submitted the re-establishment form.
